Meeting: November 14, 2024
For our November novel, The Royal Physician’s Visit, we travel back to the late 1700s and the Danish monarchy. The author, Per Olov Enquist, tells an intriguing and scandalous (!) story of the role of German-Danish physician Johan Friedrich Struensee in the court of the mentally ill king of Denmark. Amazon describes the story as “a gripping tale of power, sex, love, and the life of the mind, and it is superbly rendered here by Sweden’s most acclaimed writer.” All are welcome to participate in the book group.
