Description
Instructor – Liz Bucheit from Crown Trout Jewelry in Lanesboro, Minnesota
Ever wonder why sølje pins have those shiny dangles with silver disc drops? These discs are called “spoons” or “shells” in Norwegian. Silver has long been a protective element against evil and abduction by the hulder folk in Scandinavia. Legend has it that should you run into the devil wearing your sparkling sølje he would see his own reflection and run away! Don’t run away from a chance to create your own silver and gold washed earrings in this short class designed to introduce you to the beauty of Scandinavian silver work. Students will assemble up to 2 pairs of earrings using multiple disc elements suspended from sterling silver French hook ear wires. A willingness to use hand tools (pliers) is required. Extra magnification is recommended for close work if needed. (Cheaters, magnifying lamps, jeweler’s loupe) Pliers will be provided by instructor.

Description
Väsen-Duo, Mikael Marin and Olov Johansson have, after 37 years of interaction and touring, refined their sound and their stage presence to the extent that today they are unique in their kind. With their playful and perfect interplay, they seem to defy the laws of physics in what appears to be a telepathic communication.
Väsen will perform at the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage at 7:30 pm, Thursday, Sept. 19.
The music is intense and full of humour. They create their very own musical language which in its appeal is as modern as it is ancient. With the foundation firmly rooted in the traditional music of Uppland, they have always looked curiously at new musical goals.
Olov & Micke have played together since 1983 when they met at Oktoberstämman in Uppsala and discovered that they had a large common repertoire and a similar way of playing. They have recorded and released more than 20 albums. Melliken was released in 2023. A collaboration with Hawktail is due this fall.
Duluth-based Ponyfolk will open.
If you asked us to make a list of musicians and bands that have inspired us, Väsen is equal or greater to Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel, Stan Rogers, and Radiohead. We are deeply honored to support them in Duluth, and we hope to get your tickets before they disappear. Is anything even real? —Ponyfolk

Description
This exhibition features contemporary Swedish folk paintings by Alison Aune. Alison has studied traditional dalmålningar from Dalarna, with its characteristic floral kurbits (fantastical gourd flowers), and figurative bonadsmåleri from Småland and Halland. From her studies in Sweden she has reinterpreted these artistic traditions using her unique color palette and artistic style. In this way she celebrates the intersection of art, design, and cultural heritage.

Description
Give to the Max started in 2009 as a one-time campaign to mark the launch of GiveMN.org, Minnesota’s digital home for generosity. The results of that day—$14 million raised in just 24 hours—blew everyone’s expectations out of the water, and a new Minnesota tradition was born. In fact, Give to the Max was one of the nation’s first online giving days and now serves as a national model for giving days across the country. In the years since, nearly one million donors have given more than $300 million to 10,000 nonprofits and schools as part of Minnesota’s giving holiday.
Mark your calendars—Give to the Max Day returns for a 16th year on Thursday, November 21, with Early Giving beginning on November 1. Visit GiveMN.org during that time to follow along with totals, see prize winners, and have your generosity counted as part of this year’s campaign.
